Capital Skin helps clients put best face foward

CLIFTON PARK — For seven years, the combined expertise of the father and son partnership of Dr. J. Michael Purcell and Dr. John Michael Purcell Jr. of Capital Skin has been helping local residents put their best face forward.

Positioned within the same building, the symbiotic practice is 70 percent medical and 30 percent cosmetic, with the senior Purcell at the helm of the clinical dermatologic practice located on the basement level, and John Michael Purcell Jr. practicing upstairs in the cosmetic and spa portion of the business, previously branded Capital Skin Care.

After practicing 35 years locally, with offices in Albany and Mechanicville, Purcell Sr. relocated to Clifton Park seven years ago.

His son and namesake joined him in the practice, located at 1520 Route 9, just short of Grooms Road.

Both Albany residents, the Purcells found the Clifton Park location ideally situated for the client base of all ages that had developed from word of mouth recommendation over the years.

Both father and son are experienced physicians.

Purcell Sr. attended New York Medical College in Manhattan and served for two years as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He continues to serve two days a week in primary care at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

John Michael Purcell Jr. got an early start in his medical career at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany as a surgical technician, and worked his way through medical college as an EMT.

Both physicians specialize in dermatology. A team of 18 employees are on staff.
